What to expect in Dubai
Dubai runs on British Type G sockets at 230 V / 50 Hz, and hotels are generous with universal outlets at the desk. American and European plugs still need an adapter outside the room.
Power in United Arab Emirates comes mainly from natural gas, solar. Grid reliability is described as excellent.
Good to know: British G is the national standard.
What to pack for Dubai
- A travel adapter with Type G on the socket side.
- A step-down converter if you are bringing 110 V appliances that are not marked 100–240 V.
- A device label check: anything marked 100–240 V needs the adapter, nothing else.
