What to expect in Phuket
Phuket hotels almost always fit Type A, B and C plugs, and newer resorts use the Thai Type O. The supply is 220 V / 50 Hz, so North American devices need a voltage check even when the plug fits.
Power in Thailand comes mainly from natural gas, coal, renewables. Grid reliability is described as good.
Good to know: Thai TIS 166-2549 O plug; E/F appliances are no longer sold.
What to pack for Phuket
- A travel adapter with Type A, Type B, Type C and Type O on the socket side.
- A step-down converter if you are bringing 110 V appliances that are not marked 100–240 V.
- A device label check: anything marked 100–240 V needs the adapter, nothing else.
