What to expect in Tulum
Tulum follows the Mexican standard — A and B sockets, 127 V, 60 Hz. Boutique hotels run on solar and inverter systems in places, so high-draw appliances may trip the supply.
Power in Mexico comes mainly from natural gas, oil, hydro, wind. Grid reliability is described as moderate to good.
Good to know: Both 120/240 V split-phase and 127/220 V three-phase are used.
What to pack for Tulum
- A travel adapter with Type A and Type B on the socket side.
- A step-up transformer only if you are bringing 230 V appliances from Europe or Asia.
- A device label check: anything marked 100–240 V needs the adapter, nothing else.
